HuffingtonPost.com just published one of my latest articles. It begins:
“We’ve all heard it before: “I can’t believe I married my father!” (or mother). In a sense, it could be argued that we all are in relationships with our father or mother. But what do we mean by that?
“We form our notions of a partner based upon our childhood family structure. Those notions run far more deeply than we can imagine. We are drawn to what is familiar. For that reason, we tend to gravitate towards people who have the characteristics of a parent. But perhaps even more so, we push our partner into that role. We subconsciously expect them to act a certain way, and we accommodate, support, and enable that behavior.”

This is a really good article. Its practical and realistic, although not a quick push button fix. That probably does not exist on this topic. Thank you
I have been delving into my family history. Recently, while in Ireland , which is where many of my great tgrandparents were born, my tour guide gave an enlightening history of Ireland and reasons why so many left. His talks helped me to understand some of my family’s reasoning and in many of the things we did, have done and are currently still doing. Your blog helps to me to understand the generations of conditioning needing to healed within myself. Some things are so silly and some are so deep i guestion how long it will take. Do we need to be aware of all the condition or will meditation clear them without me being aware of the change? Thank you for this blog!
Hi Lori,
As is the mystery of life so too are the limitless levels of conditioning. We can never know them all. The field of life is unfathomable. But the more we explore and learn about it, the more deeply we grow in our wisdom. Eventually we do awaken to a level that transcends it all. Though still a mystery, we see what underlies it all. Meditation is the great accelerator of that process of awakening.
Thank you
