There is a great book, long and scholarly, written in the 1990’s that described this very phenomena. The Fourth Turning, by Neil Howe predicted these energies would be playing out in in this time frame.
The book also predicted that a new generation was going to have to rescue us, (The Millenials?) just like the generation that won WWII.
It took me a long time to get through that book, but I found that it gave me a good framework to better understand the events that we are observing in the world at this time.
